Green Solutions For Autos

Is it possible to keep the world moving while simultaneously making the air quality improve and cutting CO2 emissions? The answer is that its certainly not impossible.

There are more fuel efficient vehicles, engineered to get more miles per litre of fuel. Scientists and vehicle designers have known for years of ways to improve emissions and improve air quality. Unfortunately the economic political will hasn’t been apparent, until very recently. With petrol being so cheap in certain countries, especially USA, the freeways have been packed with Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and 4×4 vehicles, gas guzzling monsters of the road.

For drivers of SUVs and the like, the alternative is to get a diesel-powered vehicle. That alone could improve efficient by as much as 30% and enhance engine performance.

Electric and hybrid cars are another great way to greener motoring. The Toyota Prius, the green choice of Hollywood celebrities, has paved the way for the electric-crossed-with-petrol engine, the hybrid. the battery in the Prius is charged partly by braking and when the petrol engine is running. Since the Prius, several other manufacturers have seen the light and have brought out greener models.

Now, as the economic, environmental and political pressures mount over the coming months and years, the market for fuel-efficient vehicles is bound to increase. As that happens, the price of these vehicles will come down and manufacturers will take advantage of prevailing market conditions to boost their turnovers. That can only mean good for the climate and the future of the planet.
